Gulet Charter in Bozburun: What to Know Before You Book

The gulet is Bozburun’s signature boat. These broad-decked wooden vessels have been built in the village’s boatyards for generations, and chartering one here means setting off from the place where the tradition was born.

What is a gulet?

A gulet is a traditional wooden motor-sailer with a large aft deck for dining, sunbeds on the foredeck and private cabins below. It is the most sociable way to sail with family or friends.

How gulet charter works

  • Private (full-boat) charter: the whole gulet and crew for your group; you agree the route with the captain.
  • Cabin charter: some gulets sell individual cabins on a fixed route shared with other guests.
  • Day charter: a private day on board without overnight stay.

Crew and cabins

Gulets are chartered with crew – usually a captain, a cook and one or more deckhands. Check the number of cabins, whether each has its own bathroom and when the air conditioning runs (often only when the generator is on).

What is included?

This varies by boat. Typically the crew and the boat are included; food, drinks, fuel beyond normal cruising and harbour fees may be extra. Always ask for the inclusions in writing.

When to go

June and September are the sweet spot for a week on a gulet. July and August are the busiest months, so book well ahead. See Bozburun weather.
