The coastline of the Bozburun Peninsula is cut by dozens of bays, and most of them can only be reached from the sea. That is why exploring by boat is the best way to see Bozburun.
| Bay | Known for | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Aquarium Bay (Akvaryum Koyu) | Crystal-clear water | Snorkelling, day trips |
| Adaboğazı | Calm water between islets | Easy swimming |
| Serçe Limanı | Deep natural harbour, famous shipwreck | Overnight anchoring |
| Bozukkale (Loryma) | Ancient fortress walls | History, dinner ashore |
| Bencik | Narrow, fjord-like inlet | Shelter on windy days |
| Kızkumu (Orhaniye) | Sandbar in the sea | Families with children |
| Selimiye | Waterfront restaurants | Evening stop |
Serçe Limanı and its glass wreck
An 11th-century merchant ship found on the seabed here carried so much glassware that it became known as the “glass wreck”. Its finds are displayed at the Bodrum Museum of Underwater Archaeology.
Bozukkale and ancient Loryma
In antiquity Loryma belonged to the mainland territory of Rhodes. A short, steep walk from the bay leads to the fortress walls and wide views over the open sea.
How to visit
Join a day trip from Bozburun harbour, charter a private boat to set your own route, or spend a few nights on a gulet to wake up in a different bay every morning.
Please don’t drop anchor on seagrass (Posidonia) meadows and take all rubbish back to the boat.
